Cirque du Soleil creative director Michel Crete had a strong idea of what this ceiling background needed to look like. Instead of a sky, he asked us to paint a turbulent sky/ocean upon which two sailing ships have set fourth on a journey to another dimension. Envisioned for the "Mystere" show, Michel wanted the audience to suspend disbelief and fall into the world of dreams. The opening act of “Mystere” presents primal drummers dropping out of the map of the fantasy world. They remain suspended overhead while vitally beating a mesmeric drum sound.
