Nikki Pike was born in San Francisco in
1978, was adopted that same year, and instantly became a part
of the expanding Pike family. Nikki, her sister and four brothers
grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she spent her childhood
as a tomboy -- climbing trees, riding bikes, and camping in
the fields behind her house. Her active childhood brought her
to competitive athletics such as soccer, volleyball, and basketball;
from this adolescent athlete grew the artist she is today.
In 2002, Nikki completed her Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree
in Sculpture at the University of Colorado at Denver. She now
resides in Tampa, Florida where she is working towards her Master's
of Fine Arts at the University of South Florida. Working mainly
in Sculpture and Performance, she aims to question and resolve
issues related to consumer culture, social inequalities and
mass media conditioning.
As an artist, Nikki has involved herself by volunteering in
the community, teaching art and exhibiting her artwork locally
and nationally. She plans to continue creating art and to work
as an arts educator at a university. In 2004, Karen Kristin
offered Nikki a position with SKY ART. She accepted and worked
as a painting assistant on the 58,000 square foot Boulder Station
Casino project in Las Vegas. With Karen both as an employer
and mentor, Nikki found herself at home with the diversity and
energy offered within the SKY ART team.
